Giving It Your Best Shot! The Legal and Practical Implications of Vaccinating a Home Care Workforce

Tuesday, September 7, 2021

  • 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM PDT

With the highly contagious delta variant, rising number of COVID-19 infections, and numerous questions or requests from clients, home care employers are realizing that COVID-19 vaccines are an increasingly important – and sometimes contentious – workplace safety issue. However, implementing vaccination requirements and achieving a vaccinated workforce presents many legal and practical challenges.

In this complimentary webinar, Littler attorneys will discuss these challenges and provide practical suggestions for deciding on a vaccination plan, responding to client questions and demands regarding vaccination status, and achieving a safe and healthy workplace for caregivers and clients. Topics covered during this webinar will include:

  • Government vaccine mandates and the implications of the mandates
  • The types of COVID-19 policies home care employers can implement, and the benefits and risks associated with each
  • Common client requests related to caregiver vaccination status and how to respond to them
  • Wage and hour issues associated with COVID-19 vaccine policies
  • Employee safety, workers' compensation, and privacy-related issues
  • Benefits-related issues, including encouraging vaccinations as part of an employer's wellness program
  • Requests to be excused from vaccination programs based on (1) religious beliefs, practices, or observances under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act or (2) medical conditions and/or disabilities covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act
