This hospitality industry roundtable is an interactive forum designed for you and your industry colleagues to share how your businesses are handling certain legal challenges.

The primary topic of the discussion will revolve around Governor Cuomo’s call to the New York State Department of Labor to consider the elimination of the tip credit. Participants will be asked to collaborate and explore practical and out-of-the-box approaches to address this existential issue. In addition, participants will explore challenges they have faced, sharing ideas and strategies that have proven successful.

Topics to be addressed:

  • Recent developments in case law concerning Wage Theft Prevention Act claims
  • New trends/developments at the EEOC, state, or city agencies such as enforcement of laws allowing service animals into restaurants and hotels and scrutiny of employment applications
  • #MeToo in the hospitality industry and its impact on tipping
  • Enforceability and wisdom in arbitration agreements
  • How companies are managing compliance with NYC Fair Work Week Law and NYS Predictive Scheduling Rules
  • How companies are managing compliance with NY Paid Family Leave Law
