Puerto Rico Wage and Hour Webinar “Arroz y Habichuelas”

Thursday, March 8, 2018

  • 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM PST

It is 2018, and wage and hour issues continue to be a hot topic for employers doing business in the Island. Are you an employer covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act provisions and/or Puerto Rico’s wage and hour statutes? Are you up-to-date with the changes to local wage and hour statutes brought on by the PR Labor Transformation and Flexibility Act of January 26, 2017 (LTFA)? Are you concerned about the interplay of Puerto Rico’s wage and hour statutes as amended by the LTFA with other wage and hour regulations, such as the almost extinct Mandatory Decrees? If your response to any of these questions is “yes” then this webinar is for you.

Our speakers will address the questions above, while discussing the following topics in “arroz y habichuelas:”

  • Vacation and sick leave rights under the PR Minimum Wage, Vacation and Sick Leave Act, including the interplay of said statutes with the Mandatory Decrees and grandfathering provisions of the LTFA
  • Overtime rights under the FLSA and the PR Working Hours and Days Act, including those of grandfathered employees under the LTFA
  • Meal period rights under the PR Working Hours and Days Act, including those of grandfathered employees under the LTFA
  • Christmas bonus rights under the PR Christmas Bonus Act, including those of grandfathered employees under the LTFA

Note this webinar will be presented in Spanish. Simultaneous interpretation will not be available.
