John P. Nordlund's practice focuses on the defense of employers in employment litigation matters under both state and federal law with emphasis in complex wage and hour class and representative actions. John’s litigation experience includes the defense of individual and multiplaintiff, class, and representative action wage and hour lawsuits, including claims under the California Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA). John has also successfully defended individual plaintiff lawsuits alleging discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, breach of contract, and other claims. John has successfully opposed class certification and has litigated several cases through trial and arbitration, obtaining favorable jury verdicts and arbitration awards.

Additionally, John has significant experience in defending employment matters pending before state and federal government agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the California Civil Rights Department (formerly the Department of Fair Employment and Housing), the California Department of Industrial Relations – Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, and the California Employment Development Department.

John also has experience advising on various day-to-day workplace and employment-related issues, including drafting and implementation of workplace policies, wage and hour compliance, and personnel actions, including discipline and termination.
